A guide to browsing, managing, sharing and installing the Alumni League website. The options you can use depend on your account role.
Browse the league
- Home and navigation: use the header, search, desktop or mobile navigation to reach the league pages. Mobile search is inside the navigation drawer; the mobile bottom bar gives quick access to Home, Table, Fixtures, MVP and Desk. Your competition choice synchronizes across pages and is remembered for your account or browser.
- Matchday: select a competition and season, then switch between fixtures, results and live matches. Signed-in users start on a competition they manage; other users start on Demo League. Fixtures and results are grouped by matchday; open a match to see its match centre, score, status, venue and recorded timeline events.
- Competitions: open a competition to view its seasons, fixtures, results, table, scorers, awards and available statistics.
- Clubs: browse a club profile, squad, season-specific fixtures and results, and standings.
- Players: view a player profile with goals, assists, cards, Player of the Match awards and season history.
- Tables and statistics: choose a competition and season on the standings page. Tables, top scorers, Player of the Match rankings and season statistics are calculated from recorded match data; discipline is used to break POTM award ties.
- Predictions: where enabled for an upcoming fixture, choose a home win, draw or away win. Predictions close when the match starts or is otherwise closed. Signed-in votes are associated with the account; guest votes use a browser token.
- Sharing: use the share controls on match, competition, club and player pages to share through X, WhatsApp, Facebook or email.
Manage competitions and matches
- Create a competition: authorized users can use the Desk or the add-competition action. Set the competition format and details; upload or select its featured image if desired.
- Create a season and register clubs: add a season under its competition, set its dates/status, and select the participating clubs. Season registration determines which clubs appear in fixture-generation and match forms.
- Add clubs and players: use the Desk or authorized profile editors to add records and maintain club details, squad membership, positions, numbers, photos and crests. A club page also offers an authorized Add Players workflow.
- Enter a fixture manually: use the Desk match tools or the competition fixture actions. Choose the season, participating home and away clubs, date/time, matchday and venue. Match titles are generated from the selected teams.
- Generate fixtures: select a competition and season, choose from that season’s registered clubs, then set Round Robin (one or two legs) or Cup group-stage format. Configure match duration, breaks, event date or recurring outing dates, matches per outing, monthly frequency, kickoff and venue. Review the generated preview and reorder matches before confirming creation. One-day schedules avoid consecutive matches for the same team and report when the chosen schedule cannot fit. Cup generation creates group-stage fixtures; add or complete knockout rounds after qualification is known.
- Edit a match: authorized editors can use Edit Match on the match centre to change teams, date/time, matchday, venue and status; enter scores, goal/penalty/card events, assists, goalkeeper selections, extra time, penalty shoot-out scores, match clock and Player of the Match. Save the match to publish the changes.
- Delete records: authorized editors can move fixtures/results, competitions, seasons, clubs or players to the WordPress Trash using the Delete button on the relevant profile. A confirmation is required; deleting a record is not the same as permanently erasing it.
Share and download fixtures, flyers and statistics
Open Fixtures, Flyers & Stats, choose a competition and season, and load the schedule. Filter by fixtures, results or both, and optionally by matchday. Then:
- Use Print / Save as PDF to print the visible schedule or save it as a PDF from the browser.
- Download a formatted, printable HTML sheet or an Excel-compatible fixtures/results CSV.
- Download a statistics CSV containing season standings and top-scorer totals.
- Download a branded matchday flyer PNG based on the selected matchday/filter, competition artwork and site colour palette.
Use the individual-page sharing buttons for a match, competition, club or player. Social networks may show a preview based on their own sharing rules.
Import, export and site settings
- CSV Data Tools: download templates and import or export competitions, seasons, clubs, players, staff, fixtures, goals and awards. CSV files work with Excel. Keep the header row unchanged; preserve a record ID or seed ID to update an existing record. Rows without a matching ID create records. Imports are limited to 10 MB; validate linked record IDs and review imported data. Back up the site before bulk changes. Demo repair also reuses legacy fixtures and existing league pages instead of duplicating them.
- Front-end Settings: administrators can change the site colour palette, set the contact email or URL shown for queries, open the import/export manager and install the site as a web app on a supported device/browser.
- WordPress back end: use Access Back End for the full WordPress administration tools, including match management/Score Centre, content editing, user roles, theme settings and import/export.
- Customizer: administrators can configure the brand palette and Header Builder: logo/branding, top navigation and menu, strapline, search and sign-in visibility, sticky-header behavior, navigation typography (font, size, bold and italic), navigation colors and header layout. Changes are applied using the Customizer’s publish controls.
- Install as a web app: use Install Alumni League in Settings when offered. If the browser does not show an install prompt, open its menu and choose Install app or Add to Home Screen. Availability depends on browser and device support; live league data still requires an internet connection.
- Contact: use the Contact for queries link in the footer. Administrators configure its destination in Front-end Settings.
Access and permissions
Public browsing and sharing do not require an account. New users can create an account; registrations are assigned the Subscriber role. Editing, generating fixtures, importing/exporting data and deleting records require the appropriate WordPress permissions. Administrators can manage all supported records. Club managers and football administrators have limited access based on their role and competition ownership. If an edit or delete control is not shown, sign in with an authorized account or ask a site administrator to grant access.
